Free Weights and Dumbbells

Serious shredding starts with pumping out sets and reps whether they be with free weights or dumbbells. They’re both brilliant for targeting and training specific muscle groups. Ideally, your workout should include both of these exercise essentials and it’s easy to stock your home gym with a range of equipment including 5kg, 10kg and 15kg dumbbell sets, barbell weight sets, curl barbells and adjustable dumbbells. They’re relatively small and inexpensive so you can build up your home gym over time. Don’t forget a plate-loaded Olympic barbell, they’re the kind you see in every serious gym. It won’t be long until you’re pumping out supersets of dumbbell rows, bicep curls and bent-over rows.

The benefits of incorporating dumbbells and barbells into your resistance training routine include burning off calories, stimulating muscle growth and increasing bone and muscle strength.

Mix it up with medicine balls and kettle bells

Medicine balls and kettle bells are fantastic additions to your home gym artillery because they add another wide set of exercises to get you ripped. Working out with kettlebells and medicine balls adds a new dimension to any workout. They make them even more effective and you’ll be pumping out PBs before you know it.

You can workout with dumbbells every day

Muscles typically take 48 hours to recover but that doesn’t mean you can’t workout with dumbbells or free weights every day. Just be sure to target different muscle groups. You’ll get better results and reduce injury risk by mixing up your exercises and spreading the load across upper body, lower body and core.
